English as a Second Language
Part of our diversity initiative is the proactive removal of exclusive
barriers in the workplace. With that in mind, we have partnered with
ACTS Corporate University to provide English as a Second Language
classes to anyone who is currently separated from their team by a
language barrier. Reading, writing, listening, and pronunciation skills
are developed throughout the class, and students are taught life
skills for the workplace and home and facets of US citizenship.
Command Spanish
Intensive course in which managers and supervisors learn functional, practical occupation-specific commands and directives in Spanish, to assist in communicating with staff who do not use English as their primary language.
Pocket Translation Guides
Easy-to-use bilingual booklets containing simple, direct phrases for Culinary, Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Nursing departments - Tool to assist with communication with staff who do not use English as their primary language
Life Long Learning
Program offered by ACTS Corporate University to meet the intellectual, physical & emotional needs of residents, through various modalities of learning.
- Introduction to Spanish Language & Culture: Participants learn basic Spanish phrases for use in practical situations; discussion of the culture, music & food of Spanish speaking countries in Central & South America.
- A Day in Paris: The city of glamour & excitement comes alive as participants go on a pictoral tour of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame & other famous sights, as well as shots of Parisian neighborhoods.
